Education - Camera Monitoring
The LCSP purchased four Bushnell camera traps with the help of funding from the Lincolnshire Wolds Small Grant Scheme to help with monitoring riparian mammals on the chalk streams. Contact was made, thanks to the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust, with a teacher in Louth who also has a similar interest in using his camera trap to the monitor riparian mammals and their behavior around and about in Lincolnshire.
As a result the LCSP now actively works with Cordeaux Academy to set up the camera traps at various locations on the chalk streams. We spend a day visiting sites looking for signs of riparian mammals like otters and identifying non-native invasive species and discussing the rare type of habitat, threats to the chalk streams and its biodiversity and set up the cameras to capture important monitoring data for the LCSP.
Well done to Cordeaux Academy students, runners up in Lincolnshire Young Environmentalist Award pictured below with Professor David Bellamy.
