World War 1 Wold Newton Walk

19th August 2017

10am - 5pm. Join on this 8 mile walk as we remember and pay thanks to the brave men that lost their lives whilst protecting our county during World War 1. The walk will start from Wold Newton village Hall and on arrival in North Thoresby refreshments will be taken in the village hall whilst a brief talk will be given on the Lancaster that crashed here before going to the Village War Memorial to pay tribute to those that fell in WW1 whose names will be read out. We will also visit Grainsby for a short talk on the two Lancaster's that collided in fog near the village, and listen to the names of the crews being read out. We will then head back to Wold Newton, a Thankful Village,  for tea and cake. Wreaths to be laid at any of the Services can be obtained from Gail Davey on 01472 347868 all proceeds will go to the RBL Poppy Appeal.
