Withcall Open Day

24 April 2023

The weather was kind and Withcall buzzing for our opening 50th anniversary event, it was an opportunity to discover the hamlet of Withcall – from the open gardens of residents and St Martin's Church with its Tennyson connection to the Withcall Wolds farming museum and homemade refreshments, there was be something for everyone and a lot of smiling faces!

There were lots of people in attendance and some rave reviews including:

We have just returned from a lovely afternoon at Withcall in the company of the Smith family. We wanted to express our thanks.  The event was brilliantly organised and everyone involved (right down to the children of the farm) was so friendly and we learned a lot about that area. The ladies in the tearoom worked tirelessly all afternoon and were still smiling towards the end. My 3 times great grandfather was born at Withcall so I was interested in the village history, and my husband comes from a farming family so he was interested in the museum exhibits and hearing about the present occupants of the farm. We left a poetry book that my husband wrote, in the tearoom, but we said any money from its sale could go into funds. Many thanks to all concerned and kindest regards Janet.

The Lincolnshire Chalk Streams Project are swinging into action this week with a work party today and guided walk on Friday.

Our illustrated talk on Wednesday at Tealby promises to be an interesting event and we hope for some lively discussion, come and join us!
